Screen Ireland's Sustainability Grant

Screen Ireland's Sustainability Grant, part of their Sustainability Plan, aims to promote sustainability within the Irish screen industry. This grant primarily focuses on providing funding and support to help production companies reduce their carbon footprint and implement sustainable practices.

Screen Ireland can fund up to 100% of eligible costs up to €25,000 (ex VAT) per production. Productions must be able to demonstrate that costs are directly attributable to the sustainability initiative.

The grant helps production companies cover the costs associated with implementing new sustainability practices and technologies, addressing the "green premium".

Screen Ireland’s Sustainability Advisor Program

In early 2023, Screen Ireland launched the pilot phase of its Sustainability Advisor Programme. Through the programme, a trained Sustainability Advisor is allocated to all Screen Ireland-funded feature films and scripted TV projects. The Advisor helps to calculate the carbon impact of the production and creates a Carbon Action Plan designed to reduce environmental impacts on-set. Screen Ireland hopes that the Sustainability Advisors program will help to make sustainability standard practice on Irish film/ TV production sets.

The Green Transition Fund

The Green Transition Fund supports companies at every step of their decarbonisation journey – from initial planning and capability building to investment, research and innovation. It aims to support companies as they prepare for a low-carbon, more resource-efficient future.

Under Ireland’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) (2021-2026), projects supporting the digital and climate transition of enterprise are being funded through the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility. This covers projects that will facilitate emissions reductions as part of a decarbonisation plan.

All projects supported under the Green Transition Fund must comply with relevant EU and national environmental legislation and in particular with the ‘Do no significant harm’ Technical Guidance.
